Anopolepis Gracilipes – Yellow Crazy Ants - Intermediate
UK SHIPPING ONLY - SENSITIVE SPECIES
Yellow crazy ants make for one of the most wild invasive species available. They are inbreeding and can grow to incredible super-colonies spanning over many nests and up to 1,000 or more queens.
Known as Crazy ants because, well, the are crazy in their sporadic and irregular movements. When the colony senses or feels you are there it will burst into life and they will scramble everywhere.
It is vital you are responsible with them though, keep your escape prevention well maintained (ours is in a Saturn nest with lid). They are renown for spanning most of the southern hemisphere)
They are not fussy in their diet.
They can use formic acid to help take down prey, they consume rotting fruits, fresh fruits, sugars, insects and even seeds. They will have no problem tackling an out of date meat item from your fridge either.
They are fairly slow to start, but once you pass 200 workers they will be very rapid in their growth. Keeping moderate heat and higher humidity will encourage foraging.
