Ponera coarctata is a small species which has small colonies. Their workers are often found in the nests of Lasius Flavus and Niger. They are a non agressive species (to other ants) which typically eat only insects.
With colonies of up to 3 queens, the largest reported worker count is documented around 40 to 80 workers.

Ponera coarctata - Rare
The Law: states that you can release this species into the wild in the UK
Our Request: Releasing colonies into the wild is not a practice we condone as it will be difficult and stressful for the ants to re-establish in the wild and affect localised ecosystems. Rather than letting them go, contact us and we can take them back for free.
